I know I've been inundating the web with a lot of posts--a glob of blogs, if you will--but there's a lot going on en la oficina. And good thing, too: with the NBA playoffs ending anticlimactically and Paris Hilton behind bars, I don’t know where else I would derive excitement this week.
Today was particularly special at DailyMe, as it was filled with warm welcomes (our new administrative assistant), fond reunions (with the VP Programming Master, who sits on the other side of my cubicle and just had a baby), and bittersweet farewells (with an executive wheelie chair that we sold on Craigslist). Although the chair had an impressive educational background, good people skills, and a firm handshake, we just could NOT look beyond its incompatibility with certain floor materials. DailyMe strives for a comfortable, tolerant office environment, so we did not pardon the chair’s habit of scratching the hardwood with its wheels. Oh, the nerve! At any rate, we are fortunate that the seat was quickly picked up by another local company, for we did not plan on offering severance pay.
On another note, I’d like everyone to scratch the flattering things I said about atomic clocks in my last post. In fact, I now balk at the atomic clock. For in the midst of all the excitement that surrounded pairing our minute and second to that of the world’s “absolute time”, we forgot all about the hour ticker! I noticed this when I got to work fifteen minutes before I left my house, which is usually impossible. There were only two possibilities: either someone fixed my flux capacitor, or the clock was an hour behind.
And sure--it’s still pretty cool to say that a clock is EXACTLY an hour behind schedule, but the drawbacks are numerous. It’s like the great philanthropist Madonna said:
“We are living in a Daylight Savings world, and I am an Eastern Standard Time girl.”
Well, no longer! DailyMe, Inc. is back on track and—what’s more—potential users out there have one fewer hour to wait for our service to launch!
Talk to you all tomorrow. Peace, Love, and Personalized Media.
